ERC Claim Processing Moratorium

ERC Strategies for PEOs: Understand how long the IRS ERC claim processing moratorium will last.

In response to rising concerns about improper ERC claims, the IRS announced in September 2023 that it was placing an immediate moratorium on the processing of new ERC claims. 

The IRS initially indicated that the freeze would remain in effect until the end of 2023. The stoppage has surpassed that time frame already, and the IRS has yet to set a date for ending the moratorium.

The moratorium is expected continue, for all intents and purposes, throughout 2024.
